The Cy-Fair Educational Foundation provides college financial support to capable and motivated CFISD student leaders with significant financial need. The Foundation’s Trustees are passionate community and business leaders committed to raising funds for student scholarships and teacher excellence grants. The Foundation and its Trustees work closely with CFISD and the Lone Star College – Cy-Fair to impact quality of life in our community and improve access to college.
Since its founding in 1970, the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation has awarded in excess of $9 million in scholarships to over 2000 graduates of Cy-Fair ISD, and more than $3.5 million has been donated to CFISD for staff development programs. While some scholarships are endowed, and thus funded annually, the total amount and number of scholarships awarded is dependent on financial support from community members. Criteria for the scholarships varies slightly, but is based on activities/leadership (25%), academics (25%), and financial need (50%).
CFEF is a tax exempt, 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation; it does not endorse political candidates or issues. Contributions are tax deductible. A Board of Trustees, made up of 57 community leaders, governs the Foundation. The Foundation receives no tax dollars from the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD or any other taxing entity.
