Eric Bassett was born April 19, 1990 in Lafayette, Louisiana. He moved with his family to Houston in early 1991. He grew up in the Cypress area, attending Adam Elementary School, Arnold Middle School and Cy-Falls High School. Eric passed away in a tragic auto accident on Sunday, December 2nd, 2007 at the age of seventeen.
Eric was a proud member of the Cy-Falls Golden Eagle Football team and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He had a passion for music and was an accomplished guitar player.
He was a Senior at Cy-Falls High School and would have graduated with honors in May, 2008. Following the 2007 football season, Eric was selected as a 2nd Team All District Linebacker and was named to the Academic All-State Football Team. Eric was awarded his high school graduation diploma, with honors, posthumously in June 2008. He had been admitted to Texas A&M University and was scheduled to enroll in the fall of 2008. He was honored to have his name included in the “Roll Call for the Absent” at the on-campus Aggie Muster in College Station on April 21st, 2008.
Eric loved people and had the wonderful gift of bringing joy and laughter into the lives of his family and his many friends.
