2016 Scholarship Recipient Abigail Farrell

Abigail Farrell was awarded the Eric Bassett Memorial Scholarship on May 17th, 2016. Abigail graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cy-Fair High School. She is a member of the Texas Association of Future Educators, Ready Set Teach!, National Honor Society, and National Technical Honors Society. Abigail was active in Cy-Fair Brigade (Drill Team), serving as chaplain her junior year and President her senior year. Abigail will enter Texas A&M in the fall of 2016 where she plans to pursue a degree in Elementary Education. Gig 'em Aggies!

2015 Scholarship Recipient Tea Turko

Tea Turko was awarded the Eric Bassett Memorial Scholarship on May 18th, 2015. Tea graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cy-Falls High School with a GPA of 6.47/7. She was born in Konjic, Bosnia and Herzegovina. She immigrated to the United States with her family in 2000. At Cypress Falls High School, Tea was a member of the National Honor Society, PALs, and the MOB. She also served as Vice President of the Class of 2015. Tea enjoyed spending time volunteering at the Bosniak Cultural Community Center, Teen Study, Grace Care, and K2 Academy. Tea will be attending Texas A&M in the fall of 2015 where she plans to pursue a degree in Industrial Distribution.

2014 Scholarship Recipient Robert Jenkins

Robert Jenkins , graduated with honors from Cy-Falls High School in June 2014. He excelled during high school in the classroom and athletics, and was active in serving his school and local community. He plans to attend Texas A&M in the fall where he will study Mechanical Engineering.

2013 Scholarship Recipient Connor Barnett

Connor Barnett was awarded the Eric Bassett Memorial Scholarship on May 21, 2013. Connor graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cy-Fair High School with a GPA of 6.85/7 and was ranked fifth out of 774 in his class. He was in marching band all four years and served as bass drum captain his junior and senior years. He served as an officer in National Honor Society his senior year and Vice-President of the Computer Science club his junior year. He also participated in Spanish National Honor Society his junior and senior years and in Key Club his freshmen year. Outside of school, he participated in service projects with his church youth group and Cypress Assistance Ministries. Connor will be attending Texas A&M in the fall of 2013 and will major in Petroleum Engineering. Aggie Class of 2017! Gig 'em!

2012 Scholarship Recipient Jon Yi

Jon Yi graduated Cum Laude from Cy-Fair High School on June 2, 2012 with a GPA of 6.17/7. He was an active member in Key Club, Environmental Club, Senior Men and Asian Club. He played varsity tennis during his freshman and sophomore years. He also played football, basketball, and soccer outside of school. Jon had a unique opportunity to intern for a well respected Oil and Gas company (BlackStone Minerals) in the summer of 2011. Jon has been active in serving our local community by volunteering in events in church, Star of Hope, and East Austin. He will be attending Texas A&M in the fall of 2012 and plans to major in Petroleum Engineering. Aggie Class of 2016! Gig 'em.

2011 Scholarship Recipient Meredith Fair

Meredith Fair graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cy-Fair HS on June 2, 2011. She graduated with a 6.65/7 GPA and was ranked 39 out of 764 in her class. Meredith was an instrumental player on the volleyball, basketball, and softball teams. She was all-district and all- academic in varsity softball for 3 years. B.F.N.D. She was a member of Key Club all four years and joined Student Council and National Honor Society her junior and senior years. Meredith also took part in Senior Women and FCA. She has volunteered a lot of her time to various organizations, including Ronald McDonald House, Salem Lutheran VBS, and softball fundraisers.She will be attending Texas A&M in the fall of 2011 and plans to major in Civil Engineering. 2010 Scholarship Recipient Steven Forde

Steven R. Forde graduated Cum Laude from Cy-Fair High School on June 3, 2010 with a GPA of 6.23. He was a member of the football team freshman and sophomore year and a member of FCA and Key Club his junior and senior year. He earned the Rank of Eagle Scout in March 2010. He now attends Texas A&M University as a Political Science major and is the loudest and proudest member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2014!

2009 Scholarship Recipient Wes Ryan

Wes Ryan Cy-Fair High School Class of 2009, was awarded the Eric Bassett Memorial Scholarship on May 26, 2009. Wes graduated Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 6.73/7.0 and was ranked 17 out of 680 students. The Captain of the Bobcat Football and Track team, Wes was a Houston Touchdown Club Scholar Athlete of the Year Finalist, Academic All State First Football Team and Highest GPA Varsity Football Team Player. Wes also played a leadership role in numerous student organizations and volunteered many hours in service to the local community.

Wes is currently a Junior at Texas A&M, studying construction Science with a minor in Business Administration. He maintains a 3.418 GPR and was recognized as a Distinguished Student (GPR over 3.5) Spring 2011. To add to his academic success at A&M, he continues to demonstrate leadership and a commitment to service as a delegate to the MSC Abbott Family Leadership Council, Tailgate Chair for Brotherhood of Christian Aggies, Family Host for the Aggie Muster Committee, and through participation in several mentoring programs. Wes is scheduled to graduate in 2013.

2008 Scholarship Recipient Blake Billings

Blake Billings , a 2008 Cy-Falls honors graduate, was awarded the first Eric Bassett Memorial Scholarship in May 2008. Blake said, "It is quite an honor to receive this scholarship as Eric was a teammate and friend of mine. Eric was an outstanding person and someone who positively impacted my life. I can't truly express how much this means to me and I will be forever grateful to have this opportunity."
